ZWIN Holiday Meeting — December 2017
Zionsville Women in Network (ZWIN) enjoyed a special holiday meeting at the Sullivan Munce Cultural Center from 11:30 to 1:30 on December 14. After brief announcements, President Debbi Kuller and VP Kathy Wood gave each member a gift, a ZWIN business card holder. They surprised each board member by giving them a striped scarf bearing the pink ZWIN logo. We will wear them with pride!
Assisting with Project Purse
After opening their gifts, members shared lunch — sandwich platters, side-dishes, and desserts brought in by members. Then Chelsea Marburger of Project Purse explained how her organization gives hope by giving handbags to women in our area who are in need. She followed with an explanation of how we would be contributing that day.
For the remainder of the meeting, members mingled as they worked on this service project. To begin, members selected a purse from the dozens donated and carried it into the art room, where bins full of toiletries were set in rows. Each member selected a soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, and other toiletries and gifts to place into each purse. Many women filled multiple bags on several trips.
While some women filled purses, others stayed in the main room and wrote notes to each recipient. They placed a handwritten note in each bag. Chelsea said that for many women, the personal, hand-written notes are the best part. We are grateful to be able to assist the women who will be receiving these purses.
Our next meeting will be January 11, 2018, at 11:45. We return to the Sullivan Munce Center to kick off the new year. Visitors are welcome to attend. We will have a new theme to announce, new programs, and new connections to make. We look forward to serving Zionsville and our surrounding community as we network in 2018!
